Amanda Markley is currently pursuing a Masters of Music in Violin Performance from the University of Kentucky. Originally from Mansfield, Ohio, Amanda graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelors of Music Education in December 2012. With the University of Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, Amanda got the opportunity to perform with guest artists such as Gil Shaham, Sarah Chang, Arlo Guthrie, and Itzhak Perlman, and played in Master classes for violinists Arnaud Sussman and Maxim Brylinski. She attended Brevard Summer Music Festival in summer 2010. Prior to attending UK, Amanda acted as associate, assistant concertmaster and concertmaster to the Mansfield Symphony Youth Orchestra (2003-2008). In 2007, she won the MSYO Concerto Competition. Additionally, Amanda participated in the Ohio Federation of Music Clubs Festival and received 11 consecutive superiors in the Violin Solo category, and 8 consecutive superiors in the concerto category. Amanda has studied with Elva Newdome, Michael Davis, Margie Karp, and currently studies with Dan Mason.
