Cara Thomas

Cara Thomas holds a B.M. degree from the University of Tennessee at Martin (2009) and an M.M. degree from the University of Kentucky (2011). She has studied with Amy Simmons, Miles Osland, Pat LaBarbera, Bobby Shew, James Moody, and Branford Marsalis. Cara performs widely throughout the United States, including an appearance at the 2008 North American Saxophone Alliance Conference. She has also performed in Europe, where she has appeared at the North Sea, Beaujolais, and Montreux Jazz Festivals. Cara has also performed with such notable jazz artists as Joe Lovano, Ellen Rowe, and Vince DiMartino.

Cara is in high demand as an educator in central Kentucky, where she teaches at several middle and high schools, the Central Music Academy, and her own active private studio of woodwind and piano students. Cara specializes in new music and improvisation, and is the founder and leader of the Young Liberated Musicians Ensemble.
