John Allnutt has been teaching percussion since 2008 and is an active educator and performer in the Bluegrass area of Kentucky. He performs and teaches jazz, concert, marching, and world music. John works with a variety of students from fourth grade through high school in Fayette, Madison, and Boyle Counties.
John earned his Bachelor’s degree in percussion performance under the distinguished professor James Campbell at the University of Kentucky. Throughout his undergraduate education, he was a snareline member of the Cavalier drum and bugle corps in ‘03, ‘04, and ‘06 when they received two DCI world championships. He completed his Master's in Music Education at Southern Methodist University in 2012. John is an active member of the Percussive Arts Society and an artist with Innovative Percussion Inc.
John resides in Richmond with his wife Laura, a CMA piano instructor, and their maltese-shihtzu, Sam. They enjoy cooking, learning new board games, and playing music together in their free time.
