2017 Summer Camp Information

World Percussion Camp

The 2017 Central Music Academy's World Percussion Camp will be held between July 17 - 21 from 9:00am - 12:00pm at Central Christian Church (219 E. Short St.) The camp is for students ages 10 - 18. It is free to students who qualify for free/reduced lunch; $100 for those who do not. (To check the federal income eligibility guidelines, click here.) Deadline to apply is July 10, 2017. 

During the camp, students studied music theory, African and Brazilian drums, Caribbean steel pans, and "Stomp"-style musical creation (using any type of cheap household object as an instrument).

Chamber Strings Camp

The Chamber Strings Camp will be held between July 17 - 21 from 9:00am - 12:00pm at Central Christian Church (219 E. Short St.) The camp is for students ages 10 - 18. It is free to students who qualify for free/reduced lunch; $100 for those who do not. (To check the federal income eligibility guidelines, click here.) Students must be able to read music and have at least 2 years of experience. Deadline to apply is July 10, 2017. 

During the camp, each student explored new repertoire as part of a string quartet as well as a larger chamber ensemble. They received instruction on technique, sight reading, music theory, and improvisation.
